Warm-up Activities

For EFL and ESL English Lessons

  1. Use the noun season to describe the weather, television, holidays, and sport. Also, what does the verb season mean? (Hint: it’s nothing to do with the same four topics!)
  2. Discuss what kinds of racing sports there are.
  3. What words are associated with teams that begin with the five letters of that word.
  4. Write a sentence including one of these words: single, double, or triple.
  5. Compare smoking versus vaping — how are they similar and different?
  6. Take a vote and discuss who would be in favour of or against a smoking ban.
  7. Name three things that are made from gold.
  8. Walking in the countryside or jogging in the city — which is better exercise and why?
  9. As a group, each person name one item they would put in a time capsule. Write down the total contents of the time capsule.
  10. Write a short sentence that includes one word beginning with the letter k.
  11. What do you like more and why — foreign music or foreign movies?
  12. Do you know the adjective form of your country’s name? If not, look it up!
